Long-time Marco restaurateurs Denis and Lisa Meurgue have opened Petit Soleil, a breakfast and lunch eatery at the Shops of Olde Marco.
It is a spin-off of their established Bistro Soleil, which they have operated at the Old Marco Inn for the past few years.
Like most new restaurants, Petit Soleil opened softly to allow management and staff to tweak any possible kinks, but manager Magdalena Martinez said everything had been pretty smooth since flinging its doors open Wednesday.
The building section was formerly a part of Chef’s Express, and most recently was to have become a fresh market.
“But that didn’t happen,” said Denis Meurgue, who constructed a new kitchen and remodeled the interior to put a personal stamp on the place.
The restaurant is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Watch for a feature story on the restaurant’s summer specials in the May 23 issue of the Sun Times as part of our new series, and see a Chef Denis create a mouthwatering Nicoise salad in a video accompanying this report.
